Total Internet Centre Pty Ltd trading as tic technologies [tic] was founded in 1998 from humble beginnings as a home based business. Its' first client was Australian Business Limited (ABL) – Hunter and Central Coast NSW.
Within 3 months, Total Internet Centre (tic) moved into newly fitted offices and within 12 months had over 22 people working within the offices providing internet, marketing and design services.
At a time when less than 10% of businesses were connected to the internet, the first strategy was to increase connectivity within the business networks. This would then drive the region’s uptake of the Internet.
tic’s founder and Managing Director Rhonda Bowen, was an internet pioneer and developed the very first internet training classes within regional NSW, Australia.
The courses were short and easy to understand, and targeted to the business owner/manager and were indeed a success. Rhonda worked with the Hunter’s 13 Councils and provided internet training to the Council’s General Manager’s and staff whilst also working with several NSW State Government Departments and agencies.
Seeing the potential for a possible negative digital divide, Rhonda partnered with the Hunter Business Chamber and developed the project: Hunter Region On Line which provided thousands of people from all walks of life, living within the Hunter’s 13 local government areas, access to free internet training. The project was fully funded by the Federal Government for over 4 years.
Rhonda’s non-technical background ensured the courses were easy to understand and the Federal Department of Education and Training purchased the modules and distributed them within NSW, Victoria and the ACT.
At the same time, tic developed its own content management solution (CMS) – technology whereby the web site owners could change their own content and edit their web site areas easily. This too broke new ground.
tic’s clients began to truly embrace the internet and many web components were developed so they could be easily integrated with tic’s CMS. So tic created ‘building blocks’ – for web sites which offered valued for money and total control for the client.
In the year 2000, tic was a very early adopter of Microsoft’s .NET, which was released in beta form and today is very proud of its’ understanding of .NET and the features it can provide to clients.
Over the past 10 years tic technologies has led the charge and survived and thrived through many economic cycles.
Now operating completely virtual, tic technologies continues to provide Government, Business and NGO’s customised internet solutions, strategic marketing and creative design services.
tic’s Managing Director, Rhonda Bowen and her partner and Senior Technical Manager – Michael Campbell, are committed to providing easy, state-of-the-art internet technologies and strategic marketing services, whilst maintaining a level of service second to none at an affordable price. |
